From Studio to Stage in Two Clicks: TiMax launches Scaling Surfaces for SoundHub

Spatial audio pioneer, TiMax, has expanded the powerful audio capabilities of TiMax SoundHub with a progressive new feature named, Scaling Surfaces. The new feature, which represents a first in the marketplace, allows users to easily scale object positions in their sound design to different listening environments. The tool enables users to conveniently rescale a spatial show file from the studio playback environment into an auditorium – in just two mouse clicks.

Work users complete in the studio or offline, can be quickly translated and transposed onto the stage, or from venue to different sized venue, again and again. When an object is attached to a Scaling Surface, and that surface is moved, all movement automation for that object, across the entire show file, moves with it.

Scaling Surfaces equips users with the creative freedom of flexibility so that an entire show can be re-scaled at any time or any venue, simply by changing the Scaling Surface size, shape, and height. Additionally, content can be distributed without knowing the absolute scale of the playback system.

To be expected in a TiMax solution, Scaling Surfaces is styled with the level of detail garnered from decades of experience working with spatial audio workflows. The tool delivers the ability to utilise more than one Scaling Surface in a file. As an example, it’s possible to cover both a ‘stage’ and ‘auditorium’ area, to accommodate the separate resizing of the two Scaling Surfaces. It is also possible and simple to opt out of assigning objects to a Scaling Surface when and if desired.

Scaling Surfaces requires TiMax SoundHub version 6.10 or later.
